With 18 years living, working, and
raising a daughter in Santa Fe, Rick has an in-depth
knowledge of Santa Fe and the surrounding environs to
help both residents and people new to Santa Fe find the
areas and neighborhoods that will best suit them.
His ease in working with clients and
first-hand knowledge of design and building is born of
experience—having worked with hundreds of clients on
their renovations, many in historic districts. Whether
considering a home or land on which to build, Rick is
very capable of assisting clients in seeing the hidden
possibilities and potential of a property, be they
buyers or sellers.
Having lived most of my life in the Southwest I still
find unending fascination in this region and the
landscape, culture, history, art, and architecture that
have drawn so many others here.
In architecture, I appreciate the range of design from
traditional simple adobes that you find scattered about
the Southwest, to the contemporary rammed-earth houses
being done by architects such as Tucson’s Rick Joy, or
even the visionary work of Paolo Soleri. Each style is
wonderfully adapted to the desert environment.
In my reading time, I enjoy such Southwestern writers as
Charles Bowden, Carl Lumholtz, Ann Zwinger, Edward
Abbey, and others deeply rooted in this area’s ambience
and landscape.
As a parent of a teenage daughter, I appreciate that
Santa Fe offers a blend of small town intimacy with the
cultural advantages of a much larger city. Being able to
have her experience such groups as Chicago’s Hubbard
Street Dance or the Lannan Foundation’s offerings at the
Lensic Theater and the following week get away within a
few hours to explore hidden cliff dwellings and
petroglyphs in the canyons of southeast Utah or hike and
camp in the high mountains of Colorado has been a great
opportunity to broaden her understanding of this world. |
